Welcome to the Split Bamboo Rod Company, Makers
of finely handcrafted Spit Bamboo Fly Rods. My
name is Don Green, I have been making and restoring
bamboo rods since 1978. Pictured at the right is a
photo of my wife and I fishing with my first
handcrafted rod. That rod is still in service
today,it is pictured in both photos.
Every rod that I make is entirely hand made, no
shortcuts are taken. Each rod is made from the
highest quality hand selected Tonkin Cane, grips and
reel seat inserts are custom made to the liking of each
customer from hand selected materials, real seats
come in a variety of styles, nickel silver ferrules are
individually machined for each rod, the line guides are
the best that money can buy and the guides are
wrapped in fine Gossamer silk.
Our rod tapers are based on the classic proven
designs from the likes of Dickerson, Garrision, Leonard,
Young & Payne plus a few of my own. I also can design a
rod to meet your individual personal preferences and
fishing style.
