Commitment:
I offer you a commitment to build the best rod possible for each and every customer and strive to build
each one better than the last one. I promise that no shortcuts will be taken in the custom fabrication of
your rod and that I will not push myself to get it done. I believe that time and patience is required for
each stage of fabrication and that “speed in production is the enemy of quality and perfection". If an
unforeseen defect is discovered in fabrication or an accident occurs, be assured that I will correct it, even
if it means starting over.
Only the best materials to be found are used in fabrication. The Tonkin Cane is hand selected and inspected
for defects and proper density for each particular rod section. My first choice for guides and strippers is
from “Snake Brand”. I make all of my grips and reel seat inserts from a variety of select hardwoods,
ferrules are individually machined from nickel silver bar stock for a perfect custom fit, cap and ring type
reel seat hardware is designed and fabricated from solid nickel silver bar stock for each grip. If your
preference is for an up-locking or down-locking style reel seat we have a couple options as seen below.
My rod tapers are based upon the classical designs of the Masters; Paul H. Young, Everett Garrison, Lyle
Dickerson & H. L. Leonard plus a few of my own.
Selecting a Rod:
It’s hard to know were to begin, there are so many tapers to choose from. I recommend that you start
with one of the rods described in the Rod Gallery. These rods represent some of the favorite rods made
and used by rod makers world wide. As they are a diverse bunch of individuals, I am sure that there will be
something here that will suit you. If you already know what you want, great! If you don't and have
questions, please contact me and I will help guide you through the selection process.

Custom Rod Prices:
All of the prices listed below include you name signed on the rod, a plain cork grip, hardwood reel seat a
Leonard Style Cap and ring, aluminum tube, rod sock and shipping to the U.S. Please refer to the rod
gallery for some examples of some of the rods that I have made for others. All rods come with cork grip,
your choice of hardwood for the reel seat, gossamer silk wraps with one tipping, rod case and a lifetime
warranty against breakage due to failure which is the result of fabrication or a hidden defect.

Rod restoration:
Rod restoration, replacement and or repair prices start at $250
Sales Tax:
Residents of the State of Washington will also be accessed a sales tax at the rate of 0.087%.
Payments:
A down payment of 1/3 of the price of the rod may be made to "Split Bamboo Rod Company" by personal
check or money order. Upon clearance of the check, you will be notified of its anticipated completion date
and will also be periodically updated as to the progress being made in fabrication. Upon completion of your
rod, you will be notified and billed for the balance due. If final payment is not received within 45 days of
notification of completion, your down payment will be forfeited and the rod will be sold. When your
payment has cleared, the rod will be sent via UPS or U.S Mail.
Money Back Guaranty:
If upon receipt your rod, you are not "completely satisfied with the craftsmanship", you may return the
"unused rod" to us for a full refund minus shipping charges.

popular rod that I have made and comes with Nickel Silver Ferrules and Leonard style Cap and Ring reel
seat hardware that is machined from Nickel Silver Bar Stock. The rings have a small internal 8 degree
bevel where they meet the reel foot which gives them improved holding power and greatly reduces the
chance of marring your expensive reels. The reel seat is made of stabilized Walnut Burl and the stripping
guide is agate. The rod includes everything you see pictured above and is ready to ship today.
